Tire & Battery Collection
Tire disposal will return in April, 2017
In order to better serve the residents of Cass County, the CCRD Board approved a tire program in 2013. The program runs from mid April through July. Residents, by appointment, can drop off tires for recycling. More than 1,500 tires were recycled during the duration of the program. The board approved accepting tires again on an appointment basis in April of 2016. This is much more convenient than a single day program. Here is an outline of how the program works:
The CCRD will accept tires from Cass County Residents and farmers only, no businesses, by appointment.

The fees are as follows:
  • Passenger Tires (Rim size 18" or less) - $1/tire
  • Racing Tires (Wide) - $2/tire
  • Commercial Tires (Semi, bobcat, & Fork Truck) - $5/tire
  • Tractor Tires - $20/tire

Battery Collection

The Cass County Recycling District accepts batteries from area residents for recycling. Small quantities can be dropped off by appointment at the district office located at 518 High St. This program is for Cass County residents only and not for businesses.

We accept any and all batteries, except Alkaline, at our office by appointment. As the batteries expire, you can collect them in mass and there is no need to separate them by type. You can also bring in car batteries, lawn mower and motorcycle batteries, laptop and rechargeable batteries, hearing aid and cellphone batteries. Alkaline batteries are safe to throw away in your regular trash due to the non-hazardous nature of the chemical. Other types of batteries are harmful in the landfill because of the toxicity inside of them. Most of them contain NiCad, Lithium, and Lead Acid.

Batteries are also accepted at McCord's Do It Best in Logansport and at the First Farmers Bank and Trust in Galveston.
